Is it possible for me to have my lips dissolved even though I am allergic to the hyalase? (photos)

I had a doctor do a test patch of hyalase on my hand. He said I am allergic as the area turned red and was itchy for a while. After about an hour the patch returned to normal. I desperately hate the filler in my top lip and I was wondering if there is any way to have my lips dissolved in stages? Perhaps a tiny bit like in the patch test but not enough to cause anaphylaxis? I do not care if this will cost me a lot of money I want it gone and don't think I can wait it out!

Even if you are allergic you can still have the injection.  I pretreat with claritin and add a little steroid to the enzyme.  Best, Dr. Emer.

There are at least two types of hyaluronidase, one has risk of allergy, but there is another that the risk is much lower.  You should always have fillers done by board certified expert dermatologists or plastic surgeons who can help manage a rare complication or know how to use hyaluronidase if its needed.  Also, the filler will dissipate eventually, and there is some post procedure swelling that usually goes away pretty quickly, so waiting is also a safe option.

Thanks for your question, and sorry that you are in this position looking for someone to inject hyaluronidase and the potential for allergy to it.  I always recommend that you have a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to learn the various treatment options, the real truths, and then to help determine an appropriate treatment plan.From your photos, you have had a side effect to the medicine, which is the most common side effect – redness at the treatment site – that we know happens with hyaluronidase.  With the patch test, you did not suffer any signs of anaphylaxis, so there should be no concerns about injecting it if this is what needs to be done.  We do not know the length of time we are talking about here — when did you have the lips injected?  If it has been within a week or two, a lot of the swelling will go away.  If it has been longer, having hyaluronidase, in my opinion, in the right medical setting is perfectly fine. Just keep in my mind there will some redness there too – but this is a side effect, expected in many, and not something that would stop someone from having it done.

The response you are describing for Hyaluronidase is a normal reaction, not allergy. I have never heard of anyone performing a skin test for Hyaluronidase allergy. What is the board certification of the "doctor" that injected the fillers and did the skin test?. I believe you would be fine with the Hyaluronidase injection; however, that has its own risks as it will dissolve not just the HA filler but your own native stromal HA. I would advise to let time pass and massage and stay away from over injecting your lips and seek a qualified and experienced cosmetic physician for your treatments.
