Why is my forehead going into spasms if I rub it a certain way a month after Botox?

Question

I had botox done at the start of December. Everything was fine. Last week I took my make up off and rubbed my eyebrow. My eyebrow went into a strange spasm and raised up! I rubbed my head frantically and it went back to normal. Last night however, I scratched my head setting off another spasm. This time more sever with a big vein popping out my head. I got really upset and panicky. All has settled now, but why is this happening? I am scared to touch my forehead.

Thank you for your question. Usually it takes about 2 weeks for the Botox to settle in, so it could be the muscle just settleing in. I would recommend a follow up with your provider. I hope this helps!

This does not sound like it is in any way related to your Botox treatments.  You need to follow up with your plastic surgeon.

Not really sure why this is happening but since you are worried, go see your injecting physician so you can be properly evaluated. Always remember to see a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist for Botox and filler injections!

Jenny - not sure why this is happening, but I doubt that it is related to your recent botox treatments.  Botox is an injectable medicine that belongs to a class called neuromodulators.  It works by blocking the signaling  between the nerves and muscles.  This causes a relaxation of the lines of the treated area.  Usually, botox lasts for 3-4 weeks before the treatment will have to be repeated.  I would recommend discussing your condition with the doctor who injected you or seeking a board-certified physician with experience in botox injections to evaluate your condition.  Good luck!
