I am female and have experienced a lot of hair loss on top my head. My hairline has not receaded. It is only thinning on top so bad I see my scalp easily. I had my IUD removed and began taking vitamins. My blood work is completely normal for hormones, thyroid, iron, everything except B12. It has always been low.

Answer: Will Rogaine help me? If you have genetic hair loss, Rogaine could help. It's not possible to confirm 100 % you have genetic hair loss without seeing your scalp and looking at the hairs. Genetic hair loss in women causes hair loss in the central scalp as you've described. There is also a change in the hair follicles - whereby they undergo a change from big hairs to thin hairs. We call this miniaturization. If you have genetic hair loss, there is about a 30 % chance Rogaine could help. It does not help everyone but it s the only FDA treatment for women with genetic hair loss. Side effects include headaches, dizziness, heart palpitations, hair shedding in the first month, hair growth on the face.Blood test results are usually normal in women with genetic hair loss.
