My Gums are very white around the edges of my Silver tooth crown?

I went to the Dentist yesterday to get a fractured tooth fixed, he drilled out my old filling and then put a silver tooth cap on it. After I got home and the numbing went away I was in horrible pain. Today I noticed my gum around that tooth is super white.
