Low grade fevers 5 days PO? Is this normal?

I am 5 days PO breast reduction and lift. I keep running low grade fevers but every thing else seems ok. I've called to ask nurse and seems all is fine in their view. Is this normal? -yellow shiny breast tissue -still sore at incision -little drainage still at incision right under nipple/under breast -running low grade fever

Thank you for your question. It is important to watch and see If you develop #breast
redness, swelling, drainage or odor, it is important to call the office and
speak with the doctor or medical staff. You may need to be seen in the office

Thank you for your question.  It is not uncommon to have patients develop a low grade fever after an extensive operation like a breast reduction.  It is important to track the fevers, as well as the physical appearance of your incisions in order to prevent any issues from becoming a problem.  Should you start to have any symptoms concerning for an infection: fevers >101.4, spreading redness, increased tissue swelling/tenderness/warmth, or generalized fatigue and nausea, best to call your surgeon immediately for an evaluation. Surveys have suggested that about half of patients will experience a low-grade fever after surgery.  The good news is that in most cases this is not a serious problem, although close monitoring is still necessary because in some cases it is the first sign of infection. Should a patient develop low-grade fever, her doctor may or may not prescribe antibiotics.I hope that helps and good luck.
