Can I use coconut oil while on Tretinoin? Glycolic face wash is not exfoliating the ready to exfoliate dead flaky skin.

Thanks for your question.  Using the retinoids, such as retin-a, is useful for reducing fine lines and wrinkles over time, improving superficial acne, and improving the appearance of pores and scars.   But it must be used carefully and not too aggressively so you don't dry out too much.  It has to be a balance.  If you live somewhere humid, you might be able to use it nightly, but in a dry climate, most of my patients get too dry and flaky if used every night.  You may use any moisturizers you like, but watch out for ones that seem to be too greasy or cause an acne-like breakout.  A lot of my patients use coconut oil, but this is purely a personal preference.  Maybe see the aesthetician at your dermatologist's office and he or she might be able to help you with some superficial peeling and dryness.
