You should not have this much anxiety about a facelift procedure. They are generally very safe and you should look great and heal well within 7-10 days. I believe SMAS facelift techniques yield natural results with good longevity.

I would recommend discussing your concerns with your surgeon. If a simple revision can be done to improve your results this could be a good option.

Best is to ask your surgeon to see if you can remove the compression for the post operative period. You need to elevate your arms so the swelling goes towards your axilla and not your hands.

There are no drawbacks to a facelift in your 40s if so desired. Usually a much simpler and less aggressive procedure is needed at that age that lasts longer. If you do need a 2nd procedure in a decade or so, it can also be a simple procedure.

Fat grafting to the submalar area can help improve this. It may need a 2nd treatment 8-12 months later but it can look quite natural. Sculptra is another option.
