I am having a breast augmentation with a lift done and currently the plan is to do a lift with round smooth silicone implants place subglandularly at 250 to 275 CC. My goal is to go from a 38C to a 38DD/DDD. Is that volume implant enough for my desired goal?
Answer: Breast lift with implants, 38C Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Based on your photographs, the best shape and contour could be achieved with an implant and a breast lift. A breast lift with an implant can result in a very nice shape if good technique is used. The size, profile, and shape of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality. This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Implant "size" Unless you are very short and very petite framed, an implant anywhere in that size range is not likely to increase someone two to three cup sizes. And....if you are that height/frame, I would suggest you seriously consider submuscular implants to maximize your long term results with breasts that size. If you are tall/wide/sturdy framed, subglandular may be great but I believe a much larger implant would be required.

Answer: What size round smooth silicone implants do I need to go from a 38 C to a DD/DDD. The implants will be subglandar with a lift. Try on sizers in your surgeon's office while wearing a tight sports bra. Your implant size is limited to the amount of skin you have on your chest. For instance, you cannot put a size 9 foot in a size 6 shoe. It just want work. Your surgeon will take measurements to determine how much skin and breast tissue you have. Going really large sometimes needs to be done in stages to allow for the skin to stretch to accommodate a large implant. Having the implant placed above the muscle is a good idea for a natural look. Also, if you start to sag a little later down the road, the implant goes with your breast. If it is placed under the muscle, you could get the appearance of a "double bubble."
