In my opinion, finasteride is excellent at decreasing hair loss from the action of DHT. It can prevent hairs from miniaturizing and possibly regrow some hairs. It can increase your hair density. You are correct that hair transplantation is not a great option at 20. The key point here is that you are at high risk for future loss. Topical or oral finasteirde, oral minoxidil or laser (and possibly all three types of treatment) are worth reviewing with your physician.

At 20 yers old, finasteride is worth a try; however, this pattern already existing at your age may preduct a permanent pattern. Although I would rrecommend that you try this and possibly oral minoxidil as well, the reversal of this may be unlikely.
