Can I take acne medication while having laser hair removal treatments? (photo)

Thank you for your question. All photosensitive medication should be avoided two weeks prior to the any laser service to prevent burns, hyper-pigmentation or scarring.  Please consult with your physician to make sure you are a good candidate.

There are some medications that will interfere with lasers, that is why any treatment should be performed in a medical setting after a consultation with an experienced physician. Accutane is a medication for acne and it is absolutely a contraindication for laser treatments. Patients need to wait 6 months after stopping accutane. Some antibiotics can make the skin sensitive to the laser light as well.
