Mentor Implant registration I.D card, am I supposed to have one?

Hi. I’ve been reading on this about women who have had a BA were given an ID card which holds information about the implant they have. I have chosen a Mentor implant. My surgeon has not mentioned anything about the card. Am I supposed to register with the Mentor site? As a patient, it asks for the serial number to the implants i have in, in order to go forward and apparently this information is on the ID card.. my question is, how important is this card? How important is registering?

Your should have been given an I.D.card after your surgery, you will want this information for the future. Your doctor may retire and you will not have the needed information should you need a revision in the future. Contact the surgeon's office, if they don't have the card they can give you the information off of the operative report. Good luck.

Your surgeon should have given you a card or some type of document with the serial and LOT number for your breast implants.  If you don't have it, he/she likely recorded the information in the operative note and/or in your medical record at his/her office.  I would contact their office to get the information and store it in a safe place; its likely that you will need it again!!

Thanks for your question! Mentor implants come with ID cards and a bunch of identifying stickers in each box. At my practice, our circulator fills out the cards to be given to the patient and places multiple stickers across operating paperwork so that we have a record of the implants in multiple places. Request your cards and/or implant information from your surgeon - it should be in your medical records. Best of luck!
