IPL after laser hair removal.

Hi! I was getting laser hair removal for a year at a clinic. It has become costly so I'm thinking about using an IPL machine to maintain the results of the laser removal I had done the past year. The clinician told me that if I do that then I will have excessive hair growth because IPL will stimulate hair growth rather than reduce it since I was exposed to laser already. Is this true? Will my hair grow if I use an IPL now?
