I have a noticeable bump on the left side of my nose from when I had surgery. What it is or what should I do about it.

A little over a year ago I had a septoplasty and a closed reduction after breaking my nose badly in a car accident. I still have a large bump right below my bridge from the surgery, but it hasn't gone down in size in months. A few months after my surgery I asked my surgeon if the bump would go away and he said it would, but considering it is still the most tender part of my nose and is still there I don't know what to do.

A closed reduction of a nasal fracture will many times return the nose to approximately the same position as before the fracture. Edges of bone can remain or new bone can form sometimes requiring an additional procedure after the nose has healed. If you are not happy with part of your nose then you can change whatever bothers you. One year is generally long enough especially if you are not seeing any improvement.

Since you are now over one year out from surgery, almost all
of your post-operative swelling should have resolved.  I recommend that you see a board certified
facial plastic surgeon for a complete evaluation of your septum and nose.  The bump on your nose may require a surgery
to correct, and you and your surgeon should discuss realistic goals for your
nasal appearance.
