An examination of you would be helpful to determine if you could have CoolSculpting 11 years after a hernia repair. It would be important to know where the hernia was that was repaired and also to know where on your body you were considering to have a CoolSculpting treatment.
You may be able to do CoolSculpting procedure after Hernia repair but only after a careful examination by a board certified physician.
Absolutely!! There is a small possibility you will get some transient nerve pain related to the hernia repair, if it is in the area of treatment....but that can easily be treated with a short course of gabapentin, a Rx medication.
Thank you for your question! It depends on the type of hernia repair you had and whether it is in the area that will be treated. If your hernia was treated with mesh then you can NOT have Coolsculpting done over or near that area. Hope this helps!
We perform Coolsculpting in patients who have had a hernia repair, but we usually avoid the site of the actual repair--especially if the incisions are big (from open operations). With very small incisions from laparoscopic surgery we could sculpt over them as long as there is no recurrent hernia in those incisions and as long as the scar and surrounding tissue can be held in an applicator. We always avoid Coolsculpting directly over the umbilicus.
