How to limit tossing and turning while sleeping after the rhinoplasty surgery?

I am about to do rhinoplasty and my biggest fear is my sleep situation. I can’t fall asleep fast. Also when I sleep, I move a lot. (that might be due to my vivid dreams :)). I am really worried that I will hit my nose by accident while sleeping unconsciously. My questions are: - How do I make sure that I don’t move while I am sleeping? (I am not conscious when I am moving) - Are there any certain sleep meds that I should ask my surgeon to prescribe me so that I sleep without moving a lot?

I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors.It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.

Moving in your sleep after rhinoplasty: I think you’re worrying about it too much. In my 35 years and over 4000 rhinoplastys performed, I have never heard of anyone damaging their nose after rhinoplasty while sleeping. But one thing you can do, is elevate the back of the bed. With the back of the bed elevated it would be difficult and probably impossible to roll over onto your face, which I presume is what you are afraid of. Bear in mind that you will have a cast on which will also protect your nose quite well. There is something about our subconscious that knows what not to do during sleep. That’s why people never roll off the top of a bunkbed, Even if they would tend to roll around a lot in a much larger king size bed without the risk of falling. There is no medication that would be helpful in this regard. Just keep the back up elevated and you should be fine.
