Why Was I in Excruciating Pain During Lipo?

          It would be hard to comment on this.  If the procedure was done with oral or IV sedation, there can be pain and awareness of the procedure.  Many doctors perform liposuction like this, but I prefer general anesthesia so that patient absolutely has no awareness and feels no pain.  With the amount I liposuction and the results I try to achieve, I do not want to have anything prevent me from getting the best result.  Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Just from your description to me you did not use a boarded PS. You had local anesthesia without an option for IV sedation or general anesthesia. There was NO anesthesiologist in attendance!. Chose more wisely next time. Liposuction should NEVER be painful if done under the correct conditions in a certified operating room setting with a boarded PS and anesthesiologist. I guess you got what you paid for! Sorry. 

I usually perform liposuction udner deep sedation or general so that patients do not feel any discomfort. Perhaps you were a bit "light' under anesthesia and that is why you realized what was going on?
