This is actually a very common request I get from female patients, and I find that laser lipo is a great tool for removing that "mom pouch" in the lower abdomen and doing a scar revision without the really invasive abdominoplasty approach. First of all, a tummy tuck is going to give you a new, larger scar. Sometimes these heal quite well, and sometimes not. If you do go that route, please look at before and afters of the surgeons you're looking at - there's a big variety in skill in the market, and I do see a lot of patients who are unhappy with how their scars turned out, and it's something they could have predicted if they looked at the type of scars that doctor typically turns out. That having been said, tummy tucks offer muscle tightening and close diastasis recti and repair hernias, so consider whether you want or need muscle repaired before you choose between tummy tuck or lipo.if you decide to go the lipo route, laser lipo is what I have found to work best for c-section scar repair and elimination of lower belly fat. Please know that to fully remove that lower belly fat and to revise that scar, the surgeon is going to have be fairly aggressive, and you will likely be bruised for at least a week or two. It's not the same recovery as for someone who has gentle fat removal. But, laser lipo is a great tool to flatten out that scar and fix your contour irregularities, and you are going to need lipo to achieve that, so make sure your tummy tuck would include some lipo if you go that route. As always, ask to see photos of other female patients who your doctor has successfully provided c-section scar revision for.I'm including a link to a patient who had her tummy tuck scar revised with Laser Lipo because I think these angles best depict what kind of change laser lipo can offer.
