I am interested in pursuing a series of laser hair removal sessions for my bikini area at a local medical spa. Is there a risk of contracting STD's such as Herpes or HPV from such a procedure? How are the laser hand-pieces normally sterilized? This is a great question. The chromophore for laser hair removal treatments are melanin and will only target dark hair, not vascular or red bumps. If the laser tech does decide to go over the bug bite there should be no harm done. Wish you the best.
