I Had a Breast Augmentation a Month Ago and Have a Late Period? Can It Be Because of Anesthesia/pills?

I am 18 years old and am still a virgin. My boyfriend did finger me but he says that there was no [RS bleep]/precum on his fingers and I believe him. Please help as I really hope I am not pregnant. I read online that many people have a late period after breast augmentation

Hi,

	It is very common for woman to have a missed menstral period following a surgical procedure.  It is usually due to the stress the surgery causes on your body.  Its likely not secondary to any of the medications used during the surgery.  If you are still concerned you could take an at home pregnancy test or consult with your OB/GYN.  It would also be reasonable to wait for your next cycle prior to doing anything and see if you resume your normal menses at that time.

It is common to have women delay or skin a menses with surgery. The stress of surgery changes hormone levels and thus can cause a missed period. This can happen with any major surgery including breast augmentation, tummy tuck, and liposuction. If it does not return after two cycles, I always recc a pregnancy test but a pregnancy test should have been checked immediately prior to surgery.

Menses can be delayed by illness, and by stress, such as the stress of surgery and anesthesia, so this is not uncommon. A drug store pregnancy test is better reassurance than any thing I tell you. Thanks and best wishes.

It is not unusual for menstrual periods to be delayed after surgical procedures. However, for real peace of mind you may want to take a pregnancy test.
