I've been on finasteride since 6 months and the hair density doesn't seems to have improved but continues to fall out instead. I've neither experienced any sides. Am really concerned about the efficacy of the drug. What choice am I left with now??
Answer: Understanding Hair loss and hair loss treatment options: hair transplant, prp and progesterone This needs an in-person evaluation. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Finasteride for hair loss Great question, Oral Finasteride may help in your case but you need to be patient and wait 3-6 more months for further evaluation. I have similar stories of some of my patients and I advice them to book another consultation with me for further evaluation and for taking new PHOTOS to be compared with the photos taken before starting the medication. Most of the times, the patient and me see a positive difference of the pictures. First of all, I tell my patients that the medication will stable the hair loss then some degree of regrowth. Good luck.

Answer: Finasteride not helping Without knowing more about your story it’s difficult to comment. Finasteride may take 9 months to 12 months for some. Also keep in mind that 10% or so don’t respond to finasteride. Finally if you have another hair loss condition going on finasteride might not help that particular condition. See an expert if things don’t improve.

Answer: Finasteride Alternatives You could talk to your doctor about increasing your dosage, or switching to Dutasteride. Dutasteride works similar to Finasteride except that it is much stronger and stays in your body for much longer. Unfortunately other than that there aren't any medications that are equivalent to Finasteride.

Answer: Finasteride Finasterid works to slow, stop or reverse the hair loss in genetic male pattern balding. Many people will not see the slowing down process but the drug peaks in about 1-2 years after starting it
