This will not "wear" off. The lip shelf is from overfill and migration. It looks unnatural. This will need to be removed with enzyme. The tissue should be allowed to recover 10 to 15 days before the filler treatment is replaced with a higher G prime filler. The best of these is Restylane. The Juvederm and most fillers intended for the lip edge are runny and very likely to cause a similar lip shelf. Going to an injector who actually knows what they are doing is helpful but easier said than done. I would not let the injector you saw to the enzyme treatment. You will need about 150 units of hyaluronidase for that service. So sorry you experienced this. Lip treatment should be natural and it is possible to have that type of service.
Most often just aggressive massage will smooth out areas that have been over filled in just a few days without having to dissolve the filler. Just pinch the areas aggressively and rub between your fingers.
I am a Beverly Hills based oculoplastic surgeon. I wrote one of the earliest papers on treating under eye circles with hyaluronic acid fillers. I do a lot of facial and periocular fillers. I also do a lot of removal of old fillers. There is a lot of misinformation out there. Do filler migrate?...
Hello! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Aesthetic Skin in Winnetka and Chicago. This is a great question. I'm sorry to hear about your concerns; that sounds distressing. Hylenex (hyaluronidase) is typically used to dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers, and...
These fillers can last years. They may not fully break down on their own, ever. For this reason, the enzyme, hyaluronidase, is invaluable. Don’t be afraid of it. It makes getting hyaluronic acid filler practical. The enzyme can and will remove filler in the lip that you might want to preserve. H...
Based on your photos, you appear to have a pleasing facial appearance both at rest and with smiling. I agree with you about your concerns about the dissolving enzyme. And that regard, let nature take its course and see how things are in the next 6 months. Congratulations on overcoming your...
A very small amount of enzyme should be able to accomplish this. Less is more. The challenge is that removing filler is as much art as placing filler. The injector who overfilled you may not possess the skills to thoughtfully feather this treatment. Too much enzyme will blow out the filler....
