35, healthy, 5'8, 150lbs, no other medications - would I be a good candidate for Aveli having Factor V Leiden?

Hi! I was wondering if I would be a good candidate for Aveli having Factor V Leiden? I am a healthy and active 35 year old woman that doesn’t take any medications. 5’8” tall and 150 lbs.

Hi Sassytoez.  Aveli is typically done as a quick office-based procedure, so having a clotting disorder such as Factor V Leiden should not play a role into your candidacy.  The only factor that would make you at a higher risk for complications is if you take a daily blood thinning medication such as aspirin, which would increase your risk of excess brusing for hematoma formation.  Aveli is a great option to treat areas of cellulite.  I encourage you to seek out a board-certified plastic surgeon to see if you are a good candidate for the proceudure.  Best of luck!

Sasssytoez, Thank you for your question. Aveli is a low risk procedure that can be done under local anesthetic.  The risk of DVT or blood clot is very low with Aveli and similar procedure under local anesthesia.  Factor V Leiden is the most common inherited thrombophilia and one copy of this gene mutation also confers a low risk for blood clots.  Wishing you the best of health.

Factor V Leiden is a clotting disorder I can lead to the formation of blood clots in the deep veins which can be a very serious consultation of surgery and general anesthesia. Aveli is a minimally, invasive procedure that releases the ligaments that hold the skin down leading to cellulitis. Since it is a minimally invasive procedure that could be done under local anesthesia, there should be no risk of blood clot formation.
