Answer: Breaking up scar tissue any procedure that attempts to break up scar tissue will in the end make more scar tissue. There’s really no way around that. More surgery will make more scar tissue. If the fluid collection is large enough to create a contour problem then the correct solution is to surgically excised the capsule around the fluid collection and place a drain. This generally involves an open incision that will leave a scar. draining the fluid doesn’t work because the body will make more fluid. draining the fluid and placing a drain may partially work if the drain is left in long enough but often the fluid collection will still come back if the capsule is not excised. fluid collections called seromas Need to be drained early and aggressively to avoid forming a chronic seroma. Alternatively further liposuction could be done in some cases to even out the contour irregularities caused by the seroma. In my opinion the concept of breaking up scar tissue especially with the use of power assist devices like VASER is false and will create a worse situation. If you need liposuction revision didn’t have liposuction revision. If you need your seroma excised and have that done.Would you really need is a good assessment by an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon who knows what they’re doing.I would suggest following up with the surgeon who did your procedure and let him or her help you through this.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
