Will medicare pay for leaking breast implant

Question

Had mamogram last week..I was told implant was leaking out pouch on left. Calcification in both breast. Leaking also on right breast within the implant. I need to see a surgeon.

Medicare does not pay for complications of cosmetic surgery.  If the implant was for breast reconstruction, then you are in luck.

Medicare does not have a pre-approval process.  Sorry for the news.Ruptured silicone implant removal is generally a medical issue and insurance companies would pay for removal implant and capsulectomy, but not for new implants or a lift.Medicare should cover the procedure but you would need to sign a waiver in case medicare denies coverage.Best wishes,Dr. Denkler

In my experience Medicare does not pay for breast surgery.  If you have breast cancer they will but not a cosmetic repair. Look for a board certified plastic surgeon

If you are a reconstructive patient medicare may help you.  Otherwise, if the implants are for cosmetic reasons insurance will not cover the procedure.
