I got a root canal done a while ago, and i can't afford to get a crown put over it anytime soon. I've been trying to keep it clean but it's difficult with a normal toothbrush and I'm constantly pulling food out of it. Any tips to keep it clean until I can get a crown? My toothbrush just doesn't get in the hole the way I would like it to. Thank you in advance.

It’s difficult to tell, but it may be an abscess. The tooth may be infected. Need to have that fixed (if possible), but you may end up loosing the molar. Either way, make an appointment to see a dentist ASAP before it gets worse.
Hi:I normally recommend separate crowns if there is no mobility or bone loss around the teeth, which in your case you have adequate bone support. With regards to gum irritation if there is proper crown contour and hygiene the irritation should go away.Best,Dr. Maddahi
