Lip lift - do I also need an outer corner lift? (Photo)

Question

I am planning to do a lip lift.I was also recommended to do an outer corner lift with upper lip midline debulking ( to get ride of permanent filler that has taken the shape of a pea in the middle of the upper lip).Do you recommend the outer corner lift or just with the lip lift alone will take care of elevating a bit the upper outer corners. I really don’t want to change much the shape of my lips..…

From the photo, it looks like your upper lip has a bit of fullness in the center, which is contributing to the “pea-shaped” appearance you mentioned. A standard lip lift will elevate the central part of the upper lip, and in many cases, it provides a subtle lift to the outer corners as well, but it won’t always fully address downward-pointing or heavy outer corners.

If your goal is to preserve your natural shape and only subtly improve the lift, the lip lift alone might be sufficient, especially once the midline filler issue is addressed through debulking. An outer corner lift is usually recommended only if the outer edges of your lip droop noticeably or if there is a strong desire to specifically lift the corners for a more smiling appearance.

In short, the lip lift will give you some improvement in the outer corners without needing a separate procedure, but the outer corner lift would provide more targeted elevation if that is a concern. Since you don’t want to drastically change your lip shape, keeping it minimal with just the lip lift (and addressing the midline filler) may be the gentlest approach.

The traditional lip lift technique is the bullhorn, which takes more centrally and can result in the bunny appearance. I recommend the eccentric lip lift. This does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. This takes 1 hour to perform under local anesthesia and costs $4,000.
