Two sets of dimples - Are these unusual? (Photos)

I have two sets of dimples on my face, I have two on my cheeks one on the right as well as the left. The right side is deeper than the left. I also have another set near my smile lines and I find it interesting that I have two sets in my face at once.

This is individual anatomical variation as a result of distribution of muscle fibers, fat and ligament like skin adhesions to the muscles. A discrete variation like yours is seen only when face is animated. Treatment involves release of skin-muscle adhesions and filling with fat grafts. I hope this helps. Good luck.

What you’re describing is actually a very natural variation in facial anatomy, even though it may feel unique when you notice it on yourself.

Dimples form because of subtle differences in how the facial muscles—particularly the zygomaticus muscles—attach to the skin. Some people have a variation where the muscle splits or inserts in a slightly different way, which can create more than one indentation when you smile.

Having two sets of dimples—one on the cheeks and another closer to the smile lines—is not something I would consider abnormal. It simply means your facial muscle structure creates multiple points where the skin pulls inward during expression. The asymmetry you’re noticing, with one side being deeper than the other, is also very common. The face is rarely perfectly symmetrical, especially in areas influenced by movement.

In fact, features like this often add character and individuality to the face. Many people seek out procedures to create dimples, and what you have is something that occurs naturally.

From a medical standpoint, there’s nothing concerning about this. It’s simply a reflection of your unique anatomy and how your facial muscles interact with your skin when you smile.
