Flattened cheeks post deep plane facelift - can it be repaired? (Photos)

I noticed the flattened areas on both cheeks around the two month mark. Surgeon said I had lots of swelling. At the 5 month point surgeon is telling me fat atrophy. It is very evident when I smile and my lower face seems heavy. My face looks older imo. I'm not sure I’m sold on the fat atrophy as I can’t find anything on this. It is very tight feeling in these areas as well. What could this be from? Can it be repaired? How do I address that I’m not happy without rocking the boat?
