Dr david lim says in his video fully ablative laster treatment erbium and fractional laser is good for working on many scars though basic fraction laser only covers clearing in the skin how are these different and which are better if I suffer from a variety of types of scarring

For scars, depth of treatment is an important variable.  Fractionated lasers will penetrate into the deeper reticular dermis and have a more profound effect on scars

Lasers can help change the texture of the scar but it needs to be evaluated to see if laser is the appropriate treatment.  It will take multiple treatments to improve the texture of the skin. It's best to schedule a consultation with a laser expert in your area.

Lasers don't do good or bad jobs on scars. Doctors using them do. You need to find an experienced and skilled laser surgeon to discuss your options. However, in general, erbium yag lasers require more work to be done than CO2, which remains the gold standard.

Fully ablative laser resurfacing can work for scar types that are monomorphic. ie. lie on the same plane, eg. monomorphic shallow box car scars . See the before and afters in this section to see what I am referring to. Laser resurfacing is not the be all for all scars, I keep stressing in my video that you treat the scar type with a method. In some cases its TCA CROSS for ice pick scars, and subcision for tethered scars. All patients should be assessed based upon their scar type and skin type. Dr Davin Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
