Radiesse after Ponytail Facelift surgery - how long should I wait in between?

Hi, I regularly get Radiesse injections in my cheeks every 18 months. My last Radiesse was a year and a half ago, and I would like to repeat it. My question is: I had a surgical ponytail facelift in March this year. Would it be safe to have Radiesse in my cheeks now, or should I wait longer after the surgery? Thank you!

In most cases, yes—it can be safe to have Radiesse after a ponytail facelift, but the timing depends on how well you've healed and how your tissues have settled after surgery.

Since your facelift was in March and your last Radiesse treatment was about 18 months ago, you've likely allowed a reasonable amount of time for the initial healing process. By several months after surgery, most swelling has improved, scar tissue has matured significantly, and the facial tissues have become much more stable.

That said, there are a few important considerations. A facelift changes the position and tension of the facial tissues, so the areas that benefited from filler before surgery may not need the same amount—or the same placement—afterward. In fact, many patients find they need less filler than they did before surgery because the lift itself restores some of the volume and contour that had been lost.

Radiesse can be an excellent option for the cheeks because it provides immediate structural support while also stimulating collagen production over time. The key is to take a conservative approach and reassess your facial balance after surgery rather than simply repeating your previous treatment pattern.

If you're still experiencing noticeable swelling, firmness, or tenderness in the cheek area, it may be worth allowing a little more time for healing. Otherwise, if your recovery has been smooth and your surgeon has not placed any restrictions on injectable treatments, many patients are able to resume filler treatments several months after surgery.

Overall, based on the timeline you've shared, this is generally a point at which Radiesse may be considered appropriate, provided your healing has progressed normally. The treatment plan should simply be tailored to your "new" facial anatomy rather than trying to recreate your pre-surgical look.
