Does 1:1 diluted radiesse behave differently than standard radiesse?

I had 1.5ml of 1:1 diluted radiesse placed in both tear troughs, cheekbones and apple of cheeks. I absolutely hate it. It has completely distorted my face. Since it was 1:1 dilute will it follow the same time line as standard radiesse in terms when the volume fades and my original contours will return. Or because it's used more as a bio stimulator can the effects last much longer? This was my first time getting filler in my cheeks and though I knew it wasn't reversible I was led to believe the effects would last about a year. I'm currently 4 1/2 months out.

Diluted Radiesse does behave differently from standard Radiesse. When Radiesse is mixed 1:1 with saline or lidocaine, it’s often used more for biostimulation rather than just volume replacement. This means that while the immediate volumizing effect may be softer and less defined than standard Radiesse, the filler stimulates collagen production in the treated area, which can prolong subtle effects even after the gel itself starts to break down.

In terms of timeline:

Standard Radiesse usually maintains visible volume for about 12–18 months, depending on the area and individual metabolism.

Diluted Radiesse may fade more gradually in volume, but because of collagen stimulation, some subtle changes can last longer than the initial gel effect.

Because it’s diluted, the initial volume is softer and may feel less predictable in areas like the tear troughs and cheeks. That said, most of the distortion or unevenness should gradually improve as the filler naturally breaks down, but it may not completely return to your pre-treatment contour right away—sometimes subtle collagen changes can persist.

At 4 ½ months out, it’s normal for the product to still be present, and swelling or unevenness may also contribute to how it feels. In some cases, if the appearance is significantly bothersome, targeted dissolving or correction options may be considered, but that depends on the exact areas and your comfort level.

You’re not alone in feeling concerned—this is one of the more nuanced fillers, and diluted treatments can behave differently than what many expect. The good news is that it does gradually settle over time, and the collagen stimulation can provide long-term subtle improvement, even if the initial volume isn’t what you hoped for.
