You may be experiencing an allergic reaction, possibly to the sutures or something else. Are you applying any topical scar treatment creams? Please talk to your surgeon so they may conduct a physical examination. Best of luck!

This is quite unusual.  I have never seen anything like that before.  You should discuss this with your PS and consider seeing a dermatologist/allergist at least.

It might be best to start with a dermatologist, but it would be helpful also to visit your original plastic surgeon.  it might be that some testing may be needed to truly figure out what is going on.  Certainly this is an unusual event so far after surgery, and it warrants some investigation.

Thank you for your pictures.  That is very strange that you are getting this lesion only on your incision.  If your plastic surgeon can not figure it out may be it is best to see a dermatologist.

This is rather unusual. I would ask you surgeon what kind of suture he or she used and then have an allergist test you for that material. It looks like an allergic reaction to the suture material.

Dear C,Yours is very unique problem that I personally have not seen in 20 years of plastic surgery practice.  I would recommend returning to your plastic surgeon.  He/she will be very interested in correcting your condition and referring you to the appropriate doctors to manage it.  Good luck!

You need allergy testing and possible removal of suture material in incision.. Best to seek Allergist aide...

I am sorry to hear/see the unusual reaction you are experiencing. Sometimes, patients to experience skin reactions that are unusual and are best evaluated by a dermatologist. Conditions such as fungal infections,  allergic reactions... will need to be ruled out. This wishes.

Sorry to hear of your problem, which is unusual this late after surgery.Certainly, as others have suggested consulting a dermatologist is very wise.If the hives are only on the scars and nowhere else on your body and you are still using some scar fadding regimen e.g. Mederma,silicone scar pads or other topical treatments they could be part of the problem.Occasionally it could be a reaction to the type of suture material your doctor used,so reviewing with your surgeon makes sense too.Hope you get better soon
