Would you recommend low lever laser therapy (LLLT) for hair loss?

Dr. Donovan is right on the money, the study published in the American Journal of Dermatology is the first to support LLLT as a viable hair loss treatment protocol. In the study referenced, all 334 subjects (both men and women) saw natural hair growth after using a "LaserComb" LLLT device over a 26 week period. At our practice, patients have reported exceptional results with at-home LLLT devices that fit within a typical baseball cap, are worn discreetly, and cover the entire scalp.

Low level laser is emerging as a possible treatment option for men with hair loss. In Jan 2014 a study was published in the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology showing these devices do work!  side effects are minimal, if any Medications like finasteride and minoxidil are FDA approved for hair loss. Current evidence suggests some treatments like finasteride may work better for some men than laser therapy but head to head direct comparison studies are needed. Based on this independent well done study (see below), we now know at least one laser device is helpful.
