Hello,Gummy bear implants require a larger incision to place than older silicone gel implants or saline implants. If your areolae are large and the implant you plan on placing is small enough, it can work.
I agree with the previous answer. I use the gummy bear impants a lot in my patients, especially revisions. Since they are less "collapsible" they require a longer incision to place. In most patients who are having first time augmentation, the areolar diameter is too small for gummy bears.
One of the advantages of the highly cohesive "gummy bear" implants is that they are "form stable" and maintain their shape. This property requires a longer incision to place the device. The larger the implant the longer an incision needs to be.In a consultation with a plastic surgeon experienced with the use of this device various measurements will be taken of your breast and chest as well as areola. In some instances it may be possible to place the device thru the areola, although the majority of these devices are placed thru an inframmammary incision.
