Scars and holes 10 months after Radiesse - how can I fix this? (Photos)

in january 2025 I had radiesse injected into my jawline and Temples. In February I started to see holes and scars. They got worse with time. I had 5 subcissions Till now. Unfortunatley they Are still there. Radiesse is such an Heavy filler that it pulls my whole Face down. The Doctor told me that I have granuloma tissue. What can I do?

I’m sorry you’re going through this — I know how discouraging it can feel to see changes in your skin after treatment. Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite filler that stimulates collagen but can, in rare cases, cause nodules or inflammatory reactions (granulomas), especially if the filler was placed too superficially or unevenly.

Since you’ve already had multiple subcisions with limited improvement, it’s important to first confirm whether the issue is due to residual filler, fibrosis, or granuloma formation. Each one requires a different approach:

If granulomas are present, these can sometimes respond to corticosteroid injections (such as triamcinolone) or a combination of steroid and 5-fluorouracil to soften the tissue and reduce inflammation.

If fibrosis or tethering scars are causing the indentations, Further subcision may still be beneficial, but sometimes it needs to be paired with microneedling RF, laser resurfacing, or biostimulatory treatments (like PRP or exosomes) to improve texture.

If residual Radiesse remains, It cannot be dissolved like hyaluronic acid fillers, but over time, the body gradually metabolizes it. Some practitioners use saline or steroid microinjections to help break down persistent nodules.

This type of issue can take time to improve, but combining gentle anti-inflammatory treatments with collagen remodeling procedures usually leads to better long-term results. You’re doing the right thing by addressing it step by step — persistence and a thoughtful approach are key.
