Why was Exilis on my upper legs so painful for me?

Thank you for your question in regards to Exilis. The most important factor when receiving Exilis treatments is the patients hydration. It is ideal to drink at least 64 oz. of water the day before, day of and after to assure your fully hydrated which will make the toleration of heat more comfortable. Although the treatment can be very hot, the machine is completely adjustable so that each treatment can be customized to the tolerance of the patient.  Unless you had some preexisting skin sensitivity which would not allow you to tolerate it even on the lowest intensity.
Another issue is hair.  You should have been completely shaven as hair can cause arcing with the unit which can be painful.
I would recommend contacting the provider and speaking with the MD that should be supervising the treatments if you don't get an answer to these issues.
