Can the use of Finasteride / Dutasteride shrink the penis ?

Im 24 and have just started to take Finasteride for hairloss. I have had my bloods done for the sake of future reference. One thing that has me terrified is the possible prospect of penis shrinkage (length+ girth). This seems to be something that numerous people have reported, with even rat studies suggesting this. Is this a real possibility ? My thoughts were that the decrease in DHT could cause androgen dependant tissue in the penis to perhaps shrink ? Any advice would be much appreciated.

No, it is unlikely this will shrink the penis. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There is no evidence that DHT inhibitors shrink the penis. Propecia and Dutasteride get a bad rap on line, but as far as I'm concerned, they are drugs that should be tried for anyone suffering from hair loss, especially young patients,Dr. Robert Jones
