DIEP flap abdominal scar itching after 8-9 years post-op. How can I stop it?

I had a DIEP flap recon. in 2006. For the last year or so, I have been getting itching under the abdominal scar line.The perm.stitches are v.near the surface on both sides. Do you think it possible that after 9 yrs my body is trying to reject the stitches and having them removed could solve the issue ? I'm not itching anywhere else There is no redness on the surface, or discharge,Very annoying:-( Any help would be SO much appreciated! Thank-you!

Although an implant can be placed under a DIEP flap, I prefer to wait at least 6 months before considering this, such that the new tissue flap has acquired new peripheral vascular in growth and is not completely dependent of the main pedicle blood supply.I would encourage you to visit with 3...

You are seeing a wide variance in scarring because there are many variables in breast cancer reconstruction.  First, some patients undergo immediate reconstruction whereas others undergo delayed reconstruction.  Often, we can achieve better scarring with immediate reconstruction....
