Is it possible to have buccal fat removal on one side of the face only?

I wanted to know if buccal lipectomy on one side can address my issue. I had a jaw asymmetry which was corrected, but the procedure left me with an asymmetry in terms of the amount of fat in each cheek. I was recommended to have fat transfer on the side with less fat(which I do not prefer)(right side) and want to know if I can instead have buccal fat removal on the other side(left side) to make my face more symmetrical

Hello, hope you are well. The simple answer is yes, unilateral buccal fat removal can be performed. But before doing so, I would recommend a detailed examination and/or CT scan to assess the cause for asymmetry as accurately as possible. It is hard to tell from this photo alone if buccal fat asymmetry is really present. Differences in the facial skeleton, masseter muscle, and even parotid (salivary) gland can also account for asymmetric facial width. If you had jaw reduction surgery, perhaps there is still some residual asymmetry, overcorrection, or persistent edema (the gonial angle appears to protrude more on the left, which would not be corrected by buccal fat removal). Or, there could be a difference in masseter projection which could be treated with botox injections. Good luck!
