No, this is very much abnormal. My assumption is that you are allergic to a topical numbing cream that you used prior to treatment. This is the only time I have seen a reaction even remotely similar to this. It will resolve, but it will take time. Physiologically it does not seem likely that IPL treatments will make a rhinophyma worse as it is used to treat Rosacea, the cause of a Rhinophyma. On the other hand it is not strong enough to treat a rhinophyma due to the thickness of this process.
