I did a teeth whitening treatment. In one part of my mouth, where the whitening stuff got on my gums, the white color went away. But now that area of my gums are red and a little inflamed. I was wondering when this will go away and how long it should take to heal? And when it might be a good idea to see a dentist about it?

Great question. Basically the tooth is permanently bruised. Your options are to have a root canal completed and then to internally bleach the tooth. This is a good option but often is not predictable in a final even color change or that the dark stain can sometime return. Your other option is ...
Sensodyne is great. You can use it in combination with parodontax. I actually recommend that you use sensodyne in 2 week intervals. If you use it too much, it can become an irritant in itself.
At this point, I would make sure that you see the final restorations, and have them tried in prior to permanent cementation. If at the time you are not satisfied, let your dentist know. The lab can make changes. If you feel it is not working, you can go to a different dentist...
