Question

over 4 months ago i brushed out my dreads due to build up using crochet hook and conditioner. I was far too rough and pulled out so much hair, leaving a bald spot and all my hair feeling much thinner. I have started my dreads again but they are much thinner and there are no where near as many, at this point i would have hoped i could feel my dreads thickening at the roots as the new hair regrows but this is not the case. i am seriously worried i have permanently damaged my follciles and my hair

If you pulled out the whole follicular unit, they will not regrow.  If you pulled out hairs that were loose, they should come back. Starting minoxidil 5% will thicken the hairs that are existing. If you have a scalp condition, visit a dermatologist for a treatment plan. Scalp problems can inhibit hair growth.PRP hair MD.com

If the dreds alreay undermined the health of the hair at the point where you pulled it out, it may not return.  Wait a full 8 months and then you will know if it will return
