Can traction alopecia be treated with steroid creams?

It is important to understand that the main treatment for traction alopecia is stopping the pulling forces on the hair. Anything else is just bonus. That said- in early traction (where pulling has gone on only a few months) there is often inflammation in the scalp. This inflammation impedes growth and in such cases a topical steroid may be used. It's not the main treatment - that is stopping the pulling.
