I'm using Colgate whitening toothpaste and irritates my gums?

I started recently using this to help my teeth but after a few days it started to irritate my gums to the point some white spots would appear. I'm not sure if it's because of the toothpaste or a sign of infection

Hi, Lauren. It sounds like the whitening toothpaste is too strong for your mouth. I advise discontinuing this toothpaste and going back to your regular. Often, there are so many chemicals in these toothpastes that they can cause gum sensitivity and even tooth sensitivity. Hope this helps.

I would be inclined to think that it indeed might be caused by your tooth paste. Manufacturers are claiming to have their hygiene products (including the toothpastes) multiple effects and pursuing such claims they add multiple ingredients that sometimes might be too aggressive and irritant. In the past a few tooth pastes were discontinued because of some unsafe ingredients. And even some most common ingredients are capable of producing undesirable effects in some more sensitive individuals. Simply discontinue the usage of your current toothpaste and observe if your symptoms go away. And if that's the case then surely your toothpaste was the culprit. Good luck, Dr. Daniyar

Sounds like you are having a reaction to the whitening chemicals. I would advise you stop using the paste until the spots disappear. Then try using it every other day. If the spots return, most likely it is some type of allergic reaction. Good luck.
