Breast implants come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Most patients discuss primarily volume in cc's which can translate into cup size which is another language in breast implant sizing. Both of these variables are not as important as shape or profile. Most implants are round though shaped or anatomic implants do come in different projections or heights. Projection is related to the height of the implant, or how much it sticks out. The difference between a 300cc full height which is equivalent to a high profile implant and a moderate height is the full height breast implant is taller and narrower. Both shapes are great when placed in the properly selected patient.
hello thank you for your question and provided information as well. everything is summarized in the projection that gives implants to the breast.
Hello there A common misconception is that high profile implants sit 'high' on the chest wall and create more fullness at the upper pole .In fact the profile is the projection forward of the implant and contributes to how large the breast is perceived as being .By measuring your breast a surgeon can determine what width of implant will fit you well . Most implants of a given width come in 3 or 4 different profiles or projections .By altering the projection we can alter the size to achieve the degree of enhancement you are seeking.I hope that clears it up for you .CheersTS
Thank you for your question! In addition to cc’s, breast implants come in a variety of profiles including low profile, moderate profile, moderate plus profile, high profile, and extra full profile. The higher the profile of the implant, the narrower the base and the more the implant will project. Low profiles are hardly ever used, but moderate profiles have the widest bases. Moderate plus profiles have greater projection, but retain the wide base similarly to the moderate profile. High profiles offer more projection with a narrower base (often compared to the shape of a tennis ball). Ultra high profiles provide the greatest amount of upper fullness to the breasts with the highest amount of projection with a narrow base. The size and projection of the implant is an important decision, that will most affect the results of a breast augmentation, so it is important to spend plenty of time during the consultation speaking with your surgeon about choosing the right implant size and trying on different sizers to get an idea of what your results will be. Good luck!Kamran Azad MD, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Thanks for your question. The differences between both profiles are the high of the implant, High Profile implant which is narrower and projects more, the moderate profile is more flat and wide. Please make sure to contact a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and good luck.
One of the key variables in implant planning is the implant profile, or how far forward they project. Implants can have moderate, high (or otherwise known as full), or extra high (otherwise known as extra full) profile. The extra high profile are generally for those people who are happy to let people known they have augmented breasts. The moderate profile is a softer look and general suited for a natural enhancementThe full profile is somewhere in between, a bit of fullness and projection but does not want to stand out too much. When it comes to teardrop implants the profiles are the same however the bulk of the volume is at the lower half of the implant. This helps to create a more natural look in those wanting that, without the upper pole fullness.
Hi! The difference between full and moderate profile implants depends mainly on how full and natural patients want their implants to be. Moderate profile implants are the most commonly desired shape of breast implants, as they offer a perfect balance between fullness and naturalness. Full profile implants are for those who want a more augmented look, as this provides the additional implant projection. Most manufactures in the US also offer an ultra high profile implant as well. This provides the highest degree of projection of all implant shapes on the market.
Hi - All of the projection types are related to the diameter of the implant an how much of the volume of the implant sits forward - or is "projecting". For any one volume you can put that volume into an implant shell that is wider and so not as "projected" or you can put that same volume in a more narrow implant shell and so you have much more "projection". The measurements that are taken during your consultation as well as your aesthetic interests and lifestyle will help guide what is the best implant for you. All the best - Dr. Bekanich
In the implant catalogue it's important to understand what these dimensions are - you are purchasing and wearing it! Full projection implants are rounder and fuller in the forward direction. For the same sized implant, the moderate profile is a bit flatter. For example, a round 300 g implant in full will have more of a "round ball" shape which is narrower on the chest. The moderate will have a more flat "pancake" shape which is spread a bit wider. A board-certified Plastic surgeon will advise and select an implant that fits your body and expectations. You should feel confident that she/he will respect your wishes and trust their expertise during surgery. I hope you find this helpful.
Thank you for the question. The difference between the different profiles of breast implants available have to do with the dimensions (diameter and height) of the implants. As you know, the high-profile implant has a greater projection and a smaller diameter compared to the moderate profile implant. The moderate plus profile implant as projection and diameter characteristics that fall between the moderate profile and high profile implants. The ultra high profile breast implants can be very useful for patients with very narrow chest wall (breast width). I prefer to have a wide selection of implants (all profiles) available in the operating room. I use intraoperative sizers and place the patient in the upright position to evaluate breast size. Use of these sizers also allow me to select the breast implant profile (low, moderate, moderate plus, high-profile) that would most likely achieve the patient's goals. The patient's goal pictures are hanging on the wall, and allow for direct comparison. I have found that this system is very helpful in improving the chances of achieving the patient's goals as consistently as possible.Ultimately, careful communication of your goals (in my practice I prefer the use of goal pictures, direct examination/communication in front of a full-length mirror, in bra sizers, and computer imaging) as well as careful measurements (dimensional planning) will be critical.Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is:1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work.2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or "C or D cup” etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Again, the use of computer imaging has been very helpful during the communication process, in our practice.3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery, after the use of temporary intraoperative sizers.I hope this helps. Best wishes.
Hello,With all do respect, you have it all wrong. You are not the one to decide what implant is going to yield what result/bra size/cleavage/etc. Further: 1. No surgeon can guarantee a cup size, so it's a bad way to think about or convey your aesthetic goal size; in-office sizing is a much b...
I am sorry to hear about your concerns after breast augmentation surgery. You demonstrate your concerns nicely. Although some “falling to these sides” of breast implants is quite normal when you lie down, if this occurs “excessively”, it may be a concern to patients. This phenomenon is called la...
Hello, I do see asymmetry from your pictures. However, it may be the asymmetry that you mention was there previously. Implants are very hard to rupture. A rupture from lying on your stomach for a couple hours while getting a tattoo is unlikely, but it is best to visit...
