First time getting Radiesse in the cheeks. One feels harder and and bigger than the other, is this going to go down? (photo)

Radiesse is an FDA-Approved filler that we use very frequently in our office to sculpt the contours of the face. Since we are a national center of excellence for filler reversal, we also encounter patients from other doctors' offices who wish to have Radiesse fillers removed for one reason or another. In our office, we employ a directed technique to visualize the filler material, if possible on ultrasound, and then use non-surgical methods to dissolve the filler or granuloma tissue using intralesional injections. There are many methods using a combination of enzymes, intralesional modulators of scar tissue, and Kenalog to help reduce volume and remaining filler. These techniques require meticulous attention to detail and can be performed at intervals of two to three weeks to achieve longterm effect.

Thank you for your question! This is probably a result of swelling and should subside given more time. If you are still unhappy after a few days, speak to the doctor who performed the procedure.

This may be due to swelling, which can last 1-2 weeks after injections. RF treatments and starting arnika forte and LED treatment at home can help give improvement. Best, Dr. Emer.

It is not unusual to have some swelling and firmness after a Radiesse injection and it is also not unusual that one side would be more swollen and firm than the other side.  I would wait a week or two for the swelling to resolve and this issue should improve.  If you feel it is not getting better, you should contact the physician who treated you so that you can be evaluated in person.  

It sometimes takes a while for the product to settle in and look natural and it should without any further issue. give it at least a week

It is normal to have swelling after fillers.  It is also normal to have firmness after Radiesse injections compared to other fillers.  Both do settle down within a week or two and feel soft and normal.  It is not unusual for one side to swell more than the other side.  Probably your doctor tried to make sure to inject the same volume into each side of your cheek...still one side can sometimes swell more.  Take a look after about two weeks to see how it looks, otherwise it can be corrected to match I'm sure.  Also, Radiesse is not permanent and is usually mostly gone by 9-12 months time.  Do see your treating doctor if the asymmetry persists.  Keep us posted!

Probably swelling after the injection, give this 10 days to settle. Arnica can help. Reduce your exercise- activity level. Revisit your injector if this does not settle. All the best, Dr Davin Lim. 

Hello, and thank you for your question.  Swelling and firmness are both normal immediately post injection.  I would wait 7-10 days for the product to settle in.  If you feel it is not improving, schedule a follow up visit with the physician who treated you so that you can be evaluated in person.  Best of luck to you.
