Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon
Thank you for your question. This would likely not be my first choice. I would first try some bleaching creams, then other options. I would consider an alexandrite laser or a ruby laser to treat the pigment. I hope this helps.
It is very likely that this is possible; however, the answer is always obtained by doing a small laser test in the area to be treated. A small area of approximately 1 cm. will be treated with the Fractional C02 utilizing a simple topical (cream) anesthesia. If the results of 1 or 2 test patches is acceptable, a good measure of what the full treatment would accomplish is obtained. In summary, a test patch is necessary (particularly in the medial thighs) to assess the effect of the laser therapy.
The short answer is, it depends. Some types of fractional lasers can be used off the face, some cannot. Personally in my office I use the Invasix Fractora, a newer fractional laser, specifically because it can be used in other areas. This technology allows small or big areas to be treated and doesn't make lines or discolored (hyper- or hypo-pigmented) areas. It is by far the best technology I have seen for treatments off the face, like the legs, abdomen, arms, etc. It's also amazing for the face and neck too.
