Question

I have 12 day ago upper eyelid surgery and my eyes every time that I read they get sawllen and it's hard to focus , I'm using the tears and the ointment but by the end of the day is impossible to used my glasses ,read or watch tv.

Healing after #eyelidsurgeryIts hard to see what your photo shows.Swelling, discoloration, and bruising is to be expected. It is not unusual to have some difficulty seeing during the first day or two after surgery because of the swelling. Patients vary a great deal in their recovery rate, but usually can resume normal light activity or work 3-4 days after surgery. Using dark glasses and makeup to camouflage the swelling and discoloration is helpful. The patient will usually be presentable without dark glasses in 8-10 days. A small amount of residual swelling persists for many weeks, but gradually disappears.

If they can't help you, see your ophthalmologist.  Ophthalmologists are able to examine the eyes and treat your dry eye symptoms.  Without an examination, it is not possible to know if you are having an eye closure issue.  While dry eye after surgery are common, it is not normal and requires management.

You don't look very swollen in this picture, but a close up of just the eyes would be helpful.  You should expect to have some swelling still at 2 weeks.  And many patients may have dry eye and blurred vision for the first few weeks. Continue with frequent artificial tears especially before you read.

At 12 days postop, you are within the window where it is most appropriate to ask your own Surgeon such questions.  Although these symptoms aren't unusual in the early postoperative phase, it is far preferrable to receive his reassuarance from your own Surgeon.

Please call & see your chosen surgeon to inform you about healing phases following surgery. You are still very early in that healing process. If after 30 days still having issues than see an eye doc!
