My dentist said that I can change my aligners once a week. Is this okay since they allowed it?

Dear student001,Thank you for posting your question on RealSelf.  I will do my best to answer your question with the information provided.It is difficult to answer due to the fact that I can't see what your teeth look like and how your case was set up.  At this point, Invisalign does advise that doctors can instruct their patients to change every 7 days.  I do have many patients change every 7 days, but I set their treatment up to allow that.  If your orthodontist feels confident that your teeth will track with 7 day intervals then it probably is fine.  If you aren't confident, it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion from a Top 1% or Elite Invisalign treating orthodontist.I hope that this helps.Best,Dr. Jennifer StachelJennifer Stachel Orthodontics

The recommended time is every 2 weeks....BUT....some patients teeth seem to move faster and the younger you are the faster they will move also.  Try it for a couple of aligners and make sure everything is tracking properly and the new aligners are going into place appropriately.  

Each patient needs to be evaluated individually to see if changing aligner once a week is indicated for them.   We have been doing this with many of her patients for the past six months with great success. If your dentist has recommended for you, and your aligners do not feel tight after three or four days, then I would feel it's safe for you to proceed. This will cut  your remaining treatment time in half .  Your dentist will need to monitor you closely.
