Four years after a left mastectomy, and I have had such extreme itching for the past 3 weeks I can't stand it. Causes?

Itching years after surgery can be from the scar stretching or Could possibly be some inflammation from something. But without seeing you in person it is hard to tell you may need a biopsy to make sure that it's nothing serious. I would recommend going back to your plastic surgeon or your oncologic surgeon to make sure that things are okay. hope this helps. You should be seen and examined to determine the best options regarding your diagnosis and treatment.

Have your plastic surgeon take a look at the area. It may be a temporary problem. Are their any other symptoms of burning or rash or other type of visible lesion or change? It may respond to topical creams or may require a steroid injection, biopsy of the site, or even scar revision to give you answers and hopefully relief.
